According to i-Metrics Asia Pacific Corporation, the Philippines’ E-Commerce Intensity Index is at 21% of our country’s gross domestic product. Its E-Commerce Maturity Scorecard also reports 20% of Filipino Internet users purchases are done electronically.

We are bringing the DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit 2014 (#ecomsummit) this February 15, 2014 at Function Room 2, SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City Philippines.

The 5th DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Summit (#ecomsummit), now referred to hereon as E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit, is an intensive 1-day educational event on e-commerce strategies. This event is also meant to celebrate the 10th year of the DigitalFilipino Club.

This 1-day event will have e-commerce practitioners share insights and strategies on making e-commerce work and help grow your business.

I. State of E-Commerce in the Philippines

Speakers / Panelists: Dr. Donald Lim (Chief Digital Officer of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation), Dr. Nick Fontanilla (President of i-Metrics)

On our 5th year, Dr. Donald Lim, Chief Digital Officer of ABS–CBN will share his insight on the “State of E-Commerce in the Philippines”. Last year, Donald said, “It is the end of e-commerce, as we know it.” With the change of Internet useronline habits such as the watching of online television gaining great popularity last 2013, it will be interesting to see what additional insights can we gain and can of be of use in implementing our e-commerce initiatives and strategies this 2014 and beyond.

Since i-Metrics Asia Pacific Corporation started sharing initial results in its E-Commerce Maturity Score Card and E-Commerce Intensity Index, there are questions on how 2013 as a whole looked like and what can be expected this 2014. Dr. Nick Fontanilla, President of I Metrics Asia Pacific will share their findings in this area what can be done by players in the e-commerce industry as a country to help boost quality of tracking data to guide entrepreneurs, enterprises, investors, regulators, and policy makers in their decision in this space.

II. Marketing Trends in Online Marketplaces, Brand Sites, Social Media Sales Pages for Products and Services

Speakers / panelists: Jojo Anonuevo (Managing Director – Ensogo Philippines – LivingSocial), Jimmy Roa (CEO of Sysgen), Fleire Castro (Third Team Media)

With more start-ups and businesses embracing the Internet to do e-commerce and promotion, getting attention and sustaining is becoming more tougher than ever. In this session, our speakers and panelists will share the approaches they have taken, what worked, what didn’t, and tips for entrepreneurs to get higher return or conversion with their campaigns.

Daily deals e-commerce websites encouraged more Filipinos to buy online and avail of great offers. They have been a subject to a lot of scrutiny especially if the promotions are regulated by the Department of Trade and Industry. Jojo Anonuevo of Ensogo Philippines will share changes in the way deals are marketed. At the same time, managing the need to ensure that each requirement will comply to promotion guidelines.

With so many companies today using social media pages to promote their presence online, not everyone connects to the target audience and lead to conversion. Fleire Castro of Third Team Media will share her insight on communication strategies that companies need to embrace this 2014. Especially for small business whose budget resource is minimal.

III. Using E-Commerce to Improve the Business to Business Supply Chain and Logistics

Speakers / panelists: Bjorn Pardo (CEO of Xend) and Sheila Lina (CEO of Shopinas)

With logistics becoming more e-commerce business friendly, new innovations and challenges are being addressed by service providers to make it efficient, secure, and able to handle customer payments for merchants. In this session, Bjorn Pardo will share improvements they have made, merchant selling and buying trends, and new developments we can expect in this space.

IV. Design and Technology Trends for E-Commerce Sites (ONLINE and MOBILE)

Speakers / panelist: Jon Santico, Country Manager, AyosDito.ph and Erwin Ronase (Corporate Planner of GlobalSign)

With e-commerce and smartphone adoption growing popularity in the Philippines, we are seeing new applications and sites being built taking advantage of latest design and technology trends. At the same time, improvements necessary in the business process to make transactions secure. In this panel session, we will learn new e-commerce applications being built. Gain insight on the design perspective, business process improvement, and technologies embraced.

Classified sites made e-commerce within reach and friendly to Filipinos by becoming a facility to dispose old and new items online. With its dynamic nature, listings go up and out on a daily basis. Design, processes, and technology back-end requires meticulousness while concurrently making the site simple and easy to use. AyosDito.ph country manager Jon Santico will share his insight and lessons learned in this space to make e-commerce easy to use, technology efficient, while striving to make it as secure and safe as possible – protecting users from fraud.

VI. Using E-Commerce to Market Expert and Specialist Services

Speakers / Panelists: Ron Cirujano (Elance), Fitz Villafuerte, Ben Francia

With a growing number of freelancers and Filipinos seeking for additional income opportunities, the marketing of expert and and specialist services is no longer limited to companies only.

Elance Philippines Country Manager Ron Cirujano will give a big picture view on how this is growing in the Philippines. What can we expect this 2014? How can Filipinos be further competitive in this space?

There are many freelancers out there today getting projects through contractors or marketplaces. However, very few are confident enough to strive in building their own identity online. Ben Francia will share his insight on how he use e-commerce to generate awareness and income online. Including practical advise for those who would like to take a similar path.

VII. E-Commerce Developments in the Philippines Start-Up Scene

Speakers / panelists: Wilson Chua, CEO of Futuregen International, Mark Aethen Agana (Re-Store), and Chux Hizon (Rentpad)

With a growing number of start-up program advocacies happening in the Philippines, our panel will talk about e-commerce start-ups in this space, their projects, and what more can be done to help them grow.

VIII. Online Payments Solutions Adapting to E-Commerce Merchants

Speakers / panelists: Daniel Arcenas (CEO of Rural Net) and Robertson Chiang (Founder of Dragonpay and President of Digital Commerce Association of the Philippines)

With growing number of Filipinos tapping into e-commerce to market and buy products or services, there is still a big segment of Filipinos in the country that are unbanked. In this session, Danny Arcenas will talk about the Rural Net initiative that aims to serve Filipinos in the countryside to send payments and be part of the e-commerce space.
